Teaching

In the first person.

Trained at The Guildhall School of Music, now at the Barbican, and qualified as an AGSM, I began my music teaching as a member of the London Music Teaching Panel, mainly working in London Secondary Schools. I also spent time as a member of the Early Music Faculty at the Guildhall, and was a founder member of the Jazz Course there. Involvement in playing in my own band, as well as the demands of touring and session work, meant that I had no time for teaching, and in recent years it has been a welcome change to be able to balance teaching and playing, based as I now am, in Brighton.

From time to time, I teach music workshops, and coach chamber groups (enquiries please e-mail me.)
